Verkada PM interview guide

Verkada's PM loop runs about 3 to 4 weeks: a recruiter screen, two interviews with PMs on the team, then a roughly 4 hour onsite of about 5 rounds that often ends with a chat with a co-founder or the CEO. The one thing that defines it: a live presentation of a product you actually shipped, where they probe how you work cross-functionally and how you used your own data, not abstract product-design puzzles.

The interview process

1. Recruiter screen (30 min). A phone call covering your background, why Verkada, and what you want next. The recruiter checks role fit and culture fit, and sets up the team-match conversations.
2. PM interviews (2 rounds). Two separate conversations with product managers on the team. These dig into your past product work, how you partner with engineering, sales, and marketing, and how you use analytics to make decisions.
3. Onsite (about 5 rounds, ~4 hours). Multiple back-to-back rounds with team members covering execution, product judgment, market and competitor understanding, and behavioral signal. Format is conversation and case discussion, not LeetCode.
4. Past-product presentation. A core onsite round: you present a product or feature you previously shipped and field questions on the decisions, tradeoffs, metrics, and cross-functional work behind it. This is the centerpiece of the Verkada PM loop.
5. Co-founder / CEO chat. Many candidates report a final or surprise round with a co-founder or the CEO after the main onsite. It is a fit-and-conviction conversation more than a structured case.
6. What they're really testing. Three signals dominate: cross-functional collaboration (can you drive engineering, sales, and marketing together), data fluency (do you run your own analytics rather than wait to be handed numbers), and depth on real shipped work (the past-product presentation rewards specifics and ownership over frameworks).
