Verily PM interview guide

Verily's PM loop runs about 4 to 6 weeks (sometimes up to two months) across six conversations: a 30-minute recruiter screen, a 45-minute hiring manager screen, then a virtual onsite of four rounds over two days. What defines it: every onsite interviewer is assigned one Verily core value to assess alongside their functional area, and the whole loop is weighted toward healthcare-domain product sense plus cross-functional collaboration with design and engineering.

The interview process

1. Recruiter phone screen (30 min). Conversational call that probes your PM candidacy directly, not just logistics. Verily checks your background, industry fit, and genuine motivation for the specific role and the healthcare mission.
2. Hiring manager screen (45 min). The hiring manager walks you through the product, the team, and its challenges, then runs a mix of behavioral and problem-solving questions. They decide whether you are worth advancing into the full loop.
3. Onsite Day 1: Design cross-functional + Product sense. Two rounds: one on how you partner with UX designers and handle accessibility and design tradeoffs, one on product sense (improve an existing product, define success metrics, GTM strategy). Each interviewer also scores you against an assigned Verily core value.
4. Onsite Day 1: Engineering cross-functional. Focuses on technical decision-making and how you collaborate with engineers: technical tradeoffs between equally important features, your rationale for past build decisions, and how deep you go in engineering discussions.
5. Onsite Day 2: Technical screen (with a tech lead). A tech lead probes execution and technical depth: roadmap and sprint mechanics, data-backed decision making, and system-level reasoning (for example, how you would build a Netflix-like product with frontend APIs).
6. What they're really testing. Three signals carry the most weight: healthcare-domain product sense applied to Verily's actual products and regulatory context, cross-functional collaboration with design and engineering (each interviewer assigned a core value), and data-backed execution judgment across priorities and tradeoffs.
