United Airlines PM interview guide

United Airlines runs a structured PM loop of roughly three to four stages over three to six weeks: a recruiter screen, a hiring-manager or technical round, a behavioral panel, and a final leadership conversation. The one thing that defines it is heavy, STAR-based behavioral structure layered on top of a product case where you improve a real United product (the app, MileagePlus, boarding, or check-in) while balancing customer experience against business goals.

The interview process

1. Recruiter screen (about 30 min). Phone call covering the role, your background, and motivation for United and the aviation domain. The recruiter checks basic fit, logistics, and whether your experience maps to the product area before passing you on.
2. Hiring manager / technical round (video, 45-60 min). Video call with the hiring manager or a technical team member. Candidates report being given a hypothetical, then left to prepare and present an answer.
4. Final leadership interview. Senior leadership or a stakeholder panel focused on product vision, roadmap thinking, lifecycle ownership, and alignment with United's goals. Expect a product-improvement case on a real United product and a competitive or strategy discussion about aviation.
5. What they're really testing.
