The interview process

1. Recruiter screen (about 30 min). Phone call covering the role, team, company culture, your background, work authorization, and salary expectations. Synchrony checks basic fit and whether your experience maps to a regulated financial services PM role before advancing you.
2. Hiring manager round. A deeper conversation on your PM track record: how you ran backlogs, shipped with Agile or SAFe, and partnered with engineering and design. Synchrony probes whether you can lead cross functional delivery, not just write requirements.
3. Behavioral and stakeholder interviews. Multiple rounds with HR, peers, partner teams, and sometimes senior leadership, run in STAR format. The signal is collaboration under tension: managing competing stakeholder priorities, influencing technical and non technical teams, and resolving conflicts between product needs and compliance or technical constraints.
4. Case study or final presentation. You present a product roadmap or a solution to a hypothetical problem tied to Synchrony's business, often a credit card or partner financing scenario. They grade structured thinking, use of customer data, prioritization, and whether your product strategy aligns with business goals.
5. What they're really testing. Three signals carry the most weight: (1) stakeholder management and cross functional influence in a large, partner driven organization; (2) Agile delivery discipline, backlogs, roadmaps, shipping; (3) financial services and credit card domain judgment, including data driven decisions and awareness of compliance and the competitive landscape.
