The interview process

1. Recruiter screen (20 to 30 min). A conversation on your background, motivation, and work authorization. SpaceX uses it to check mission alignment and role fit before passing you to the hiring manager.
2. Hiring manager phone screen (1 hr, sometimes two rounds). A resume and market deep-dive with the team lead. Expect to show you can learn a new product or market fast and reason about Starlink's business and competitors.
3. Take-home or technical assessment (about 3 to 4 hrs of work). Some loops include an asynchronous Codility-style assessment or a practical case. Problems are real-world and SpaceX-flavored, not standard LeetCode.
4. Onsite: project presentation (1 hr). You present a project you owned to the team, then defend it. Interviewers probe the specific trade-offs you made and why, so the depth of your decisions matters more than the polish of the deck.
5. Onsite: analytical and product rounds (4 to 5 back-to-back, 1 hr each). Metrics-driven cases (reusability, payload economics, Starlink growth) plus open-ended problems where you state assumptions with no extra context. They want quantified reasoning and clear trade-offs.
6. Onsite: behavioral round (1 hr). Pressure, failure, and conflict stories. SpaceX weighs how you act with incomplete information and how you handle being wrong.
7. What they're really testing. Three signals: analytical rigor (metrics-driven, quantified decisions over generic PM frameworks), first-principles problem-solving under pressure with incomplete information, and genuine mission and domain fluency (real knowledge of Starlink, its verticals, and its competitors).
