Smartsheet PM interview guide

Smartsheet runs a roughly 3 to 4 week PM loop: a 30 minute recruiter screen, a hiring-manager call, and a virtual onsite loop with the team and cross-functional partners (product, design, engineering). The thing that defines it is scenario-based product judgment rooted in Smartsheet's own product: expect to be handed Smartsheet resources and a real situation (take the product global, a feature push from the CEO) and judged on how you reason through it, not on whiteboard puzzles.

The interview process

1. Recruiter screen (30 min). Phone call on your background, why this PM role, and a read on Smartsheet's culture and expectations. Light filter for fit and communication; the recruiter sets up the rest of the loop.
2. Hiring manager interview. Call with the manager you would report to. Goes deeper on your PM experience: how you set product vision, work with cross-functional teams, and use data to make decisions.
3. Product scenario / virtual interview. A one-on-one with a member of the team the role supports. You are often given Smartsheet resources and a scenario to solve out loud (for example, taking the product global), which tests problem-solving approach and product sense rather than a memorized framework.
4. Onsite loop (multiple 1-on-1s, ~1 hr each). Several back-to-back interviews with product, design, and engineering partners plus a more senior manager. Mix of behavioral, product strategy, and customer-advocacy questions; they probe how you collaborate across functions and defend a point of view.
5. What they're really testing. Three signals carry the most weight: product judgment applied to Smartsheet's actual product and customers; cross-functional collaboration with engineering, design, and marketing; and data-driven decision-making, including the spine to disagree with leadership while staying collaborative.
