Raytheon (now part of RTX) runs a panel-heavy loop of roughly 2 to 4 rounds over about 4 to 8 weeks: a recruiter or hiring-manager phone screen, then one or more panel interviews with managers and team members, and for cleared defense roles a security-clearance check that can add weeks. The interview process

1. Application and online screen. You apply through the RTX careers site, and some roles add an online assessment or a HireVue recorded-video round of 4 to 6 questions. This stage filters for basic fit, relevant experience, and clearance eligibility.
2. Recruiter or hiring-manager phone screen (30 to 60 min). A conversational call covering your background, why Raytheon, salary expectations, travel, and clearance status. They confirm you map to the role and the business unit before booking a panel.
3. Panel interview(s) with managers and team members. Often a group setting with several interviewers asking scripted, scenario-based questions in rotation. Heavy on STAR behavioral stories tied to the five RTX values, plus product or program execution, cross-functional collaboration, and domain or technical depth relevant to the products you would manage.
4. Security clearance and offer (cleared roles). For ITAR or DoD work, an offer is contingent on clearance adjudication, which can add 4 to 12 weeks. Expect questions confirming clearance history and willingness to sign a confidentiality agreement.
5. What they're really testing. First, behavioral fit to the five RTX values shown through specific STAR stories (accountability, collaboration, speaking up on safety). Second, can you operate in a regulated defense environment: clearance, ITAR awareness, process discipline (Lean, Six Sigma, CORE). Third, cross-functional execution: managing competing priorities and working with engineering and customers under pressure.
