Qualys runs a long, technical PM loop: candidate reports put it at roughly 2.5 to 3 months across 5 to 7 rounds (a recruiter screen, a hiring-manager call, several technical and team panels, a managerial round, and final interviews), and the thing that defines it is a take-home assignment returned in about two days plus a presentation, paired with heavy probing on security and cloud domain knowledge.

The interview process

1. Recruiter screen (about 30 minutes). A call with a recruiter covering the role, your background, compensation expectations, and timeline. Qualys uses this to confirm basic fit and domain interest before any technical round.
2. Hiring manager call. A conversation with the PM hiring manager about the specific product area (for example Scanners, Sensors, or a security product line) and how your experience maps to it. They look for genuine interest in the vulnerability management and cloud security space.
3. Take-home assignment plus presentation. Candidates report a take-home returned within roughly two days, often a roadmap or product case, followed by a presentation to the team. This is the centerpiece: they grade structured prioritization, written clarity, and how you defend choices live.
4. Technical and team panel rounds (multiple). Several panel interviews with PMs, engineers, and cross-functional team members, sometimes including India-based teammates given the globally distributed org. Expect estimation, product design, and execution questions plus depth on security or technical concepts.
5. Managerial round. A round with an engineering or product manager focused on collaboration, stakeholder handling, roadmap re-prioritization, and behavioral judgment under constraints.
6. Final interviews and HR or comp. One or two final interviews, sometimes in person, with senior or executive staff, then HR for compensation negotiation. Candidates note feedback can be slow between stages.
7. What they're really testing. Three signals carry the most weight: (1) security and cloud domain depth (vulnerability management, asset visibility, the kind of technical fluency the Scanner and Sensor PM roles require), (2) structured product thinking shown through estimation, design, and explicit prioritization frameworks, and (3) cross-functional influence and stakeholder management in a globally distributed engineering org.
