Prudential Financial runs a 2 to 4 stage loop over roughly three to four weeks: a recorded HireVue video screen, then live video interviews, and for product roles a recruiter screen followed by an analytical/technical round, behavioral panels, and a senior leadership round (often the VP of Product Management). The defining trait is that it is a behavioral and domain interview more than a build-the-product whiteboard: Prudential weighs STAR-structured stories, retirement and insurance domain fluency, and your ability to turn data into decisions for stakeholders.

The interview process

1. Recruiter / HireVue screen (recorded, ~3 questions). A pre-recorded HireVue video round where you get about 30 seconds to prep and 2 minutes per answer with no re-dos, or a live 30-minute recruiter call. Mostly behavioral plus motivation and basic fit, with at least one Prudential-specific question.
2. Analytical / technical round (~30 min). For product and analyst roles, a round on data analysis, product metrics, and tools like Excel or SQL, sometimes a hypothetical scenario about product performance. They check that you can pull insight from data and explain it simply to non-technical stakeholders.
3. Behavioral panels (2 to 3 rounds, ~45 min each). Panel or back-to-back live video interviews, often two 30-minute blocks in a superday, mixing fit and situational questions. STAR stories about collaboration, conflict, deadlines, and client situations carry most of the weight here.
4. Senior leadership / strategy round. A deeper conversation with senior management (for PM roles, often the VP of Product Management) on strategic thinking, market trends, product positioning, and your vision for the role and how you would contribute to Prudential.
5. What they're really testing. Three signals dominate: STAR-structured behavioral evidence of collaboration and handling pressure or conflict; domain fluency in retirement, annuities, and insurance plus the ability to explain it in plain terms; and turning data into stakeholder-ready decisions. Raw product-design whiteboarding matters less than these.
