Pendo PM interview guide

Pendo runs a roughly 2 to 3 week loop (Glassdoor reports about 21 days on average) of around 4 to 5 stages: recruiter screen, hiring manager call, a take-home case plus presentation, and an onsite panel that famously opens with a one-hour group session in front of leadership including the CEO before splitting into one-on-ones. The thing that defines the loop is data-drivenness: as a product analytics company, Pendo wants every product decision and case answer grounded in what data you would use to design it and measure success.

The interview process

1. Recruiter screen (30 min). Phone call on background, motivation for Pendo, and role fit. They check that your story is framed around data and measurable product outcomes, since that is the lens for every later round.
2. Hiring manager interview (45 to 60 min). Conversation with the PM lead on your past products, how you make decisions, and how you work with engineering and design. Behavioral and execution depth, looking for analytical rigor paired with cross-functional collaboration.
3. Take-home case plus presentation. A product case you complete on your own time and then present back, typically a 20 to 30 minute walkthrough. Pendo wants to see what data you would use to design the product and assess whether it worked, not just the feature idea.
4. Onsite panel (about 3 hours). Starts with a roughly one-hour group session in front of stakeholders (someone technical, the hiring manager, VP of Product, a UX person, and the CEO) where you solve a case and take it down to features and user stories. It then breaks into about four one-on-one interviews covering product sense, execution, and behavioral fit.
5. Leadership and values fit. Senior leaders including the CEO weigh in, often within the panel. They probe self-awareness, judgment, and whether you earn trust across teams, alongside the product work.
6. What they're really testing. Three signals carry the most weight: data-drivenness (can you tie design and success metrics to real data), cross-functional trust (can you partner with engineers and designers and handle pushback), and customer-outcome thinking (can you connect product work to a customer's business goals).
