Olo PM interview guide

Olo's PM loop runs about 3 to 5 weeks end to end and stacks five or more conversations: a recruiter screen, a first call with the VP or hiring manager, peer PM and cross-functional rounds with engineers and a product designer, a working session, and a video chat with a senior leader (candidates report the COO). The defining feature is that it is conversation-heavy and behavioral, anchored on a working session where you pick a real Olo business problem and walk the room through how you would solve it.

The interview process

1. Recruiter screen (about 30 min). Phone call with the recruiter or talent partner who candidates describe as responsive and sharp. Covers your background against the role, the restaurant-tech context, logistics, and fit.
2. Hiring manager / VP of Product call. Video call, often the first substantive round, with the hiring manager or VP of Product who explains what Olo does, then asks about your experience as a PM. They probe how you elaborate on specific lines from your resume.
3. Peer PM and cross-functional rounds. Separate video chats with other product managers, an engineer, and a product designer (sometimes in person). Behavioral and collaboration-focused: how you work with design and engineering, manage trade-offs, and handle conflict.
4. Working session. You choose a problem the business is trying to solve and work through it live with the panel. Tests product structuring and how you drive a discussion; candidates note the room can be quiet, so you have to lead it yourself.
5. Senior leadership chat. Video chat with a senior leader, reported by candidates as the COO, plus a closing conversation with the hiring manager. More about judgment, values, and mutual fit than a fresh case.
6. What they're really testing. Three signals carry the most weight: cross-functional collaboration (can you partner with designers and engineers and manage trade-offs), communication under ambiguity (sharing bad news, structuring a vague problem and leading a quiet room in the working session), and genuine grounding in mobile and digital ordering experiences tied to Olo's restaurant-tech domain.
