Nylas PM interview guide

Nylas runs a four-round, fully remote PM loop over roughly two to three weeks, all on Google Meet: a hiring-manager intro, a technical assessment that can include a take-home, a discussion with the company President, then a four-person team panel (max 4 hours). The thing that defines the loop is the take-home plus panel presentation, where you walk through the "what, why, and how" behind your best product work and, in some cycles, build and present go-to-market or sales-enablement materials for an unreleased Nylas product.

The interview process

1. Round 1: Hiring manager intro (30 min, Google Meet). A conversational screen with the hiring manager covering your background, why Nylas, and the product area you would own. They are checking baseline fit, communication, and genuine interest in Nylas's developer-API domain.
2. Round 2: The Deep Dive / technical assessment (60 min, may include a take-home). A 60-minute assessment that frequently pairs with a take-home assignment you present to a panel. Reported take-homes have asked candidates to create and present sales-enablement or go-to-market materials for a Nylas product still in development, testing how you reason about an unfamiliar product and explain it clearly.
3. Round 3: Discussion with the President (45 min, Google Meet). A 45-minute conversation with the company President. Expect higher-altitude talk about product vision, strategy, and how you connect your work to broader company objectives.
4. Round 4: The Loop / team panel (four 45-min interviews, max 4 hours). Four back-to-back 45-minute chats with cross-functional team members (Engineering, Design, PMM, Customer Success). Each digs into the 'what, why, and how' behind your best work and tests collaboration across functions.
5. What they're really testing. Three signals carry the most weight: clear articulation of the what/why/how behind your past product decisions; product and go-to-market reasoning about a developer-API product you may not know going in (shown in the take-home presentation); and cross-functional collaboration with engineering, design, marketing, and customer success.
