The interview process

1. Recruiter screen (30 min). Phone or video chat on your background, motivation, and fit for the role and Navan's culture. Navan frames it as a two-way conversation and tells candidates to structure stories with the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result).
2. Hiring manager chat (45-60 min). Conversational round that mixes behavioral questions with a product sense prompt. Expect to identify pain points for a prioritized user segment and propose product solutions, not just talk through your resume.
3. Take-home case study + panel presentation (multi-day prep, 20-30 min present). You get a prompt to build a short PRD or product recommendation, then present it to a panel that is mostly senior to you. They probe your prioritization, your reasoning, and how you handle live pushback.
4. Final onsite loop: 1:1 interviews. A series of one-on-ones with people from Product, Engineering, and the Chief Product Officer. Covers product execution (diagnosing metric drops), strategy and trade-offs, and cross-functional collaboration.
5. What they're really testing. Three signals carry the most weight: (1) prioritization and product sense, can you pick a user segment, name real pain points, and propose solutions; (2) metrics rigor, every product idea gets a 'how would you measure this' follow-up meant to expose vanity metrics; (3) trade-off judgment, defending brutal calls (growth vs. ethics, breadth vs. depth) without sounding naive.
