Leidos PM interview guide

Leidos runs a relatively light, behavioral-heavy loop of roughly 2 to 3 stages over about 2 to 6 weeks: a recruiter or HR phone screen, a hiring manager interview, then an onsite or video panel (often the program manager plus a senior PM). The one thing that defines it: this is a cleared government and defense contractor, so the bar is mission and program delivery under acquisition, security, and clearance constraints, not commercial user-growth product sense.

The interview process

1. Recruiter / HR phone screen (about 30 min). A recruiter walks through your background, motivation for Leidos, and the basics: salary, clearance eligibility, and whether you can pass a background check. They are screening for fit with the defense mission and confirming you clear the non-negotiable gates before anyone technical spends time on you.
2. Hiring manager interview (about 45 to 60 min, phone or video). A discussion with the hiring manager on your product and program experience: roadmap ownership, requirements translation, and how you have run delivery cross-functionally. They probe whether your experience maps to government program structures rather than pure commercial product work.
3. Onsite or video panel (about 45 min per interviewer). One to three interviews, often the program manager plus a senior PM and sometimes HR. Heavily behavioral (STAR), with project and stakeholder scenarios and some role-specific questions on prioritization, risk, scope, and security versus usability trade-offs.
4. What they're really testing. Three signals carry the most weight: (1) mission and program delivery, can you tie product decisions to program performance and government customer outcomes, not just user metrics; (2) stakeholder and conflict handling under STAR, especially difficult stakeholders and scope changes; (3) fit with constraints, comfort operating inside acquisition, clearance, and security rules (FedRAMP, requirements changes via contract mods).
