Lam Research runs a 3 to 4 round PM loop over roughly 3 to 5 weeks: a recruiter screen, a technical or hiring-manager phone interview, and an onsite loop of back-to-back interviews with 4 to 5 managers and stakeholders (some candidates report a case-study presentation to a panel). The interview process

1. Recruiter phone screen (about 30 min). Background, interest in the role, and fit with Lam's values and culture. Expect to show why you want a hardware capital-equipment PM role specifically, not a generic software PM one.
2. Technical / hiring-manager phone interview. A video call with the hiring manager or a senior manager, focused on product development, market analysis, and customer-needs assessment. 3. Onsite interview loop (back-to-back). Consecutive interviews with 4 to 5 managers and cross-functional stakeholders; total interviewer count across the full process can reach 10 to 14. Heavy on behavioral and leadership questions plus your grasp of Lam's products and the semiconductor market.
4. Case-study / panel presentation (role-dependent). Some candidates present a detailed case study to a panel of senior managers or executives. Tests structured problem-solving, executive communication, and how you defend a recommendation under pushback.

Three signals dominate: (1) genuine semiconductor capital-equipment domain depth (Lam's products, fab customers, the market) over generic PM frameworks; (2) cross-functional leadership and influence without authority across long, technical, ambiguous programs; (3) structured problem-solving and clear communication under executive scrutiny.
