Interactive Brokers runs a lean, finance-heavy loop for product/project manager roles: typically a recruiter phone screen, a personality assessment plus (for many tech-adjacent roles) an online math/coding test, then two manager interviews (the hiring manager, then their boss). The whole thing can run from a few weeks up to about two months, and the defining trait is that IBKR tests honesty and real domain fit with trading software far more than polished, FAANG-style product-sense case answers.

The interview process

1. Recruiter / HR phone screen (about 30 min). A recruiter walks through your background, experience, and why IBKR. They gauge culture fit and confirm you meet the bar: usually an engineering, CS, business, or finance background plus a few years of product or technical project management.
2. Personality assessment. A self-report test (often picking adjectives that describe you) that IBKR uses to judge fit against the specific group you would join. Candidates report it functions as a real gate before you reach a manager.
3. Online assessment (role-dependent). For technical and tech-adjacent roles, an online test with math questions and a medium LeetCode-style coding problem. PM candidates with a technical track can hit this; expect basic quantitative work.
4. Hiring manager interview. The first live round is with the manager actually hiring. Mixes behavioral fit, basic math, and domain questions about trading products and the software lifecycle. They weigh honesty over claimed expertise.
5. Manager's manager interview (final). A second round with the hiring manager's boss that decides the offer. More fit, leadership, and how you would handle priorities, pressure, and cross-team communication in a fast trading environment.
6. What they're really testing. Honesty and self-awareness (they would rather you admit a gap than bluff), genuine financial-domain fit (options, risk, trading software, KYC), and the ability to juggle multiple projects under pressure while communicating clearly across teams.
