The interview process

1. Recruiter screen (about 30 min). A recruiter reaches out, walks through your background and the role, and checks fit and logistics. For some roles a short written exam or screening task is sent at this stage rather than later.
2. Take-home case study / written task (unpaid). Candidates are asked to write a case study for a game or complete a written task tied to the role, for example proposing a campaign idea for an upcoming update or designing test cases for a specific character's skill set. This is the main filter and is judged on game sense and structured thinking, not polish.
3. Hiring-manager / team-lead interview (about 1 hour). An online interview with a team lead or function lead (for example the NA marketing lead). Often two interviewers; expect a self introduction, a deep dive on your favorite games and why, and a walk-through of your written case. They probe how well you know HoYoverse's products.
4. Functional / cross-team interviews. One or more additional online rounds with other team members or senior staff. Reported candidates saw up to four online interview rounds total. Content is role-specific: product and analytics candidates get metrics, segmentation, and retention questions; technical roles get CS fundamentals plus a coding problem.
5. Offer and decision. The recruiter shares results, compensation, and benefits, then asks you to decide within a set window. Total process averages roughly five to six weeks, longer for marketing and brand roles.
6. What they're really testing. Three signals carry the most weight: (1) genuine knowledge of and passion for HoYoverse's games, you should actually play them and speak to specifics; (2) live-ops and product instinct for gacha-driven titles, meaning monetization, banner and event timing, and player retention; (3) structured, data-backed reasoning shown through your written case and your answers on metrics and segmentation.
