Grafana Labs runs one consistent, structured loop for every candidate: a recruiter screen, a hiring manager conversation, a practical role exercise (for PMs a product case or take-home, often with a presentation), and final cross-functional interviews, with a values-based Wayfinder round added for senior roles. The interview process

1. Recruiter screen (about 30 min). A recruiter walks through your background, the role, comp, and Grafana's remote-first culture. They check role fit and motivation, and brief you on the rest of the loop.
2. Hiring manager interview (about 45 min). A product leader digs into recent products you shipped, the decisions you owned, and how you reason from incomplete information. They assess whether the role fits both your skills and your career goals.
3. Practical exercise: product case or take-home (often with a presentation). A role-relevant exercise that mirrors real PM work at Grafana, such as a product or strategy case, sometimes a take-home you then present. It tests how you scope an ambiguous problem and reason upward to a thoughtful answer, not trivia.
4. Cross-functional / final interviews. Conversations with engineering, UX, and other partners on collaboration, roadmap creation, and prioritizing features by user need and technical feasibility. Structured and behavioral, scored against criteria set before the interview.
5. Wayfinder interview (senior roles). An extra values-aligned conversation with a cross-functional teammate outside the hiring chain, used on senior and select roles to pressure-test culture fit and raise the hiring bar.
6. What they're really testing. Three signals dominate: values and behavior fit (operating openly, diving deep into the domain, being a strong teammate and bar-raiser); product judgment under ambiguity (reasoning up from vague problems to a defensible roadmap and prioritization); and cross-functional collaboration with engineering and UX in an open-source, observability context.
