Fortinet PM interview guide

Fortinet's PM loop runs roughly 3 to 5 rounds over a few weeks: a 30-minute recruiter screen, a technical interview with a local or regional technical manager, often a case study or roadmap presentation, and a final round with senior leadership up to the VP level. The one thing that defines it: this is a deeply technical, domain-heavy PM interview, you are expected to talk credibly about SD-WAN, SASE, and core networking (BGP, IPSec) the way an engineer would, not just product frameworks.

The interview process

1. Recruiter screen (30 min). Phone call with an HR recruiter on your background, experience, and why Fortinet. They check baseline fit and that your networking and security exposure is real before passing you to the technical team.
2. Technical interview (technical manager or regional expert). A working session with a local technical manager or regional technical expert focused on SD-WAN and SASE knowledge, plus advanced routing and VPN concepts like BGP and IPSec. They want to see that you can hold a technical conversation and reason about how Fortinet's products actually work.
3. Case study or roadmap presentation. You may be asked to present a case study or a product roadmap, usually tied to SD-WAN solutions. Fortinet is grading your ability to distill a customer business problem, analyze feedback, and prioritize what to build, then communicate it clearly to a technical audience.
4. Behavioral / cross-functional round. A panel or manager round on past experience, problem solving, and how you work with sales, engineering, and customer support. Bring STAR-structured stories about gathering stakeholder feedback and turning it into product decisions.
5. Final interview with senior leadership (VP level). A closing conversation with higher management, often a VP, mixing technical, behavioral, and career-fit questions. They confirm strategic thinking, communication, and alignment with Fortinet's direction before an offer.
6. What they're really testing. Three signals carry the most weight: (1) genuine technical depth in network security, SD-WAN, and SASE, enough to earn engineers' trust, (2) competitive and customer judgment, how you analyze rivals and synthesize sales and customer feedback into a prioritized roadmap, and (3) cross-functional communication, presenting a roadmap and technical detail clearly to both internal teams and external stakeholders.
