Ericsson PM interview guide

Ericsson's PM loop is short and conversation-driven: a recruiter screen, then one to three interviews with the hiring manager and senior leaders, with a case interview or assessment added for some roles and a reference check before the offer. The round that defines it is a deep behavioral interview where the hiring manager fires back-to-back follow-ups demanding specifics on what you actually did, not what your team did.

The interview process

1. Recruiter screen (30 to 45 min, phone or video). A recruiter walks through your background, experience, and motivation for Ericsson, and checks culture fit and role expectations. Ericsson's own careers page notes this can be one or two shorter conversations before formal interviews begin.
2. Hiring manager behavioral interview (about 1 hour). Mostly behavioral, often with nothing technical. The hiring manager asks back-to-back follow-up questions and digs for depth and specifics on exactly what you did, so vague or team-level answers get exposed fast.
3. Technical / domain interview (about 1 hour, video). Covers product management methodology plus the telecom stack the role touches: telecommunications billing, plus technologies named in the job description like Kubernetes, REST APIs, microservices, and cloud. They probe how you define roadmaps, prioritize features, and tie product strategy to business goals.
4. Case interview or assessment (certain roles only). Some PM positions add a case study or written assessment. It tests structured thinking on a product or strategy problem rather than rote knowledge.
5. Senior leadership / panel round. For PM roles the loop can run to three or four total rounds, with later conversations involving senior management and cross-functional peers focused on strategic fit and stakeholder skill.
6. Reference check and offer. References are contacted at the end, then Ericsson extends a contract with the position and benefits package.
7. What they're really testing. Three signals: ownership and specifics in your behavioral stories (the hiring manager probes until it is clear what you personally drove), structured product judgment (how you prioritize and connect strategy to business goals), and genuine curiosity about Ericsson's telecom domain, especially how 5G and AI fit into networks.
