Epic Games PM interview guide

Epic Games runs a four-stage loop over 3 to 5 weeks, and your passion for gaming and Epic's products is graded throughout. Team placement is often not decided until late or even after an offer, so they screen for company-wide fit first.

The interview process

1. Recruiter phone screen (30 min). Background, why you want to join Epic, and a few light behavioral questions.
2. Take-home (technical and senior PM roles). A substantive assignment, not coding puzzles, that asks for documented reasoning and design decisions. It is used as a real filter before deeper conversations.
3. Hiring manager and panel. A one-hour hiring manager conversation, then multiple 45-minute panel interviews, often four. They cover behavioral questions, product design and case-style thinking, your past projects end to end, and product sense.
4. Final loop. A virtual or in-person loop. Some candidates are flown to the Cary, NC headquarters for a full-day onsite, with travel covered by Epic.
5. What they're really testing. Genuine passion for gaming and Epic's products like Fortnite, Unreal Engine, and the creator economy, strong cross-functional collaboration that drives alignment across design, engineering, and business, and product sense backed by concrete examples rather than abstract frameworks.
