The interview process

1. Recruiter screen (15 to 30 min). A phone or video call focused on resume alignment, product ownership history, compensation range, and domain fit. eBay recruiters are direct about whether your background matches the role and will tell you quickly if it does not.
2. Hiring manager screen (45 to 60 min). Behavioral-heavy round with the hiring manager. Expect situational and past-experience questions plus a light check on analytical ability. This stage gates access to the senior PM phone screen and the loop.
3. Senior PM phone screen (45 min). A second phone round with a senior PM that focuses on product management fundamentals, product sense, and sometimes light technical or analytical questions. Passing this round determines whether you move to the final loop.
4. Virtual or on-site loop (3 to 4 interviews, 30 to 60 min each). Three to four sequential interviews covering technical depth, cross-functional collaboration, behavioral leadership, and product sense or case questions. Panel includes senior PMs, engineering partners, and potentially a director. 5. Hiring committee debrief. After the loop, feedback from all interviewers is collected and a hiring committee calibrates your level and assesses fit before the recruiter delivers the decision.
6. What they're really testing. (1) Marketplace fluency: can you reason concretely about eBay's two-sided buyer-seller ecosystem, GMV levers, listing quality, trust signals, and take-rate trade-offs. (2) Structured execution under ambiguity: can you diagnose a metric drop, scope a fix, and communicate prioritization clearly. (3) Cross-functional ownership: can you drive alignment across engineering, design, and operations without formal authority.
