The interview process

1. Recruiter screen (30 min). Phone or video call with a recruiter or HR partner covering your background, the role, and logistics. They are checking baseline fit, motivation for DigitalOcean specifically, and whether your experience maps to the team's needs before passing you on.
2. Hiring manager interview (45 min). A one on one with the PM hiring manager focused on how you have solved hard problems, adapted to change, and driven outcomes. 4. Product / design exercise. Some candidates get a whiteboard-style design or product challenge (for example, designing a dashboard for a specific user). They watch how you scope an ambiguous problem, identify the user's real needs, prioritize features, and walk a room through your reasoning.
5. What they're really testing. Three signals carry the most weight: behavioral evidence that you have actually shipped and navigated ambiguity (the 'tell me about a time' stories), culture and mission fit with a developer-first, simplify-the-cloud product, and clear cross-functional collaboration with engineering, design, and other stakeholders.
