Dell Technologies runs a fairly standard, experience-driven PM loop of about 4 to 5 stages over 4 to 6 weeks: recruiter screen, then a technical/functional round, a behavioral panel with the hiring manager and team, and a final discussion with senior leaders. The defining trait is that it leans on STAR-style behavioral and past-project questions rather than a formal product case, so deep, concrete stories about prioritization, cross-functional leadership, and your product's architecture matter most.

The interview process

1. Recruiter screen (about 30 min). Phone or video call with a recruiter covering your background, PM experience, and fit for the role. Mostly a qualification and motivation check before you advance.
2. Technical / functional interview. Video round with a hiring manager or technical interviewer on domain knowledge, requirements gathering, and how you reason through product problems. For Dell PM roles this can include the technical architecture of products you have shipped, not a coding test.
3. Behavioral panel (hiring manager and team). Two to three interviewers, often back to back over video, working through STAR-format questions on leadership, cross-functional work, conflict, and customer situations. They want customized, concrete examples, not hypotheticals.
4. Final round with senior leadership. Conversation with a director or senior leader on product strategy, long-term vision, market trends, and how you would drive success. Tests strategic alignment with the team and the business.
5. What they're really testing. Three signals carry the most weight: (1) depth and specificity of your real PM track record told via STAR, (2) cross-functional leadership and how you handle conflict and stakeholders, and (3) how you prioritize across engineering, bugs, the roadmap, and leadership asks in a resource-constrained, hardware-and-enterprise environment.
