Darktrace PM interview guide

Darktrace runs a 3 to 4 stage loop that usually takes 3 to 4 weeks: a recruiter screen, then conversations with a team lead and a director, capped by a final panel where you give a presentation of your choice plus a scenario or role-play exercise. The one thing that defines it: this is a cybersecurity company, so they care less about classic product-sense puzzles and more about whether you can explain Darktrace's self-learning AI clearly and sell the value of it to a non-technical audience.

The interview process

1. Recruiter screen (about 30 min). Phone or video call covering your background, why Darktrace, and a basic read on whether you understand what the company does. Light filter, mostly logistics and motivation.
2. Team lead / hiring manager interview. Deeper dive into your experience with behavioral questions and how you handle clients and stakeholders. They check role fit and whether you can talk about Darktrace's product credibly.
3. Director interview. Conversation with a more senior leader, again behavioral and scenario-based, probing judgment, communication, and how you'd represent the product to customers and internal teams.
4. Final panel: presentation + role-play (in person, about 1 hour). Panel of around three people. You present on a topic of your choice and run a scenario or a roughly 20-minute role-play demo of Darktrace to a mock customer. This is the core signal: can you explain self-learning AI and make non-technical people get it.
5. What they're really testing. Three things above all: can you explain Darktrace's unsupervised, self-learning AI in plain language to a non-technical audience; do you have genuine curiosity about the cybersecurity and AI domain; and can you stay composed and persuasive in a live scenario or demo rather than just answering questions on paper.
