C3.ai PM interview guide

The C3.ai PM interview runs roughly 3 to 5 weeks and moves through 4 to 5 stages: recruiter screen, a take-home written assignment (PRD spec or industry use-case presentation), a panel of PM interviews, and a final executive or senior-leadership round. The one thing that defines the loop is the written assignment, which gates every subsequent live round and is evaluated before any onsite time is granted.

The interview process

1. Recruiter or hiring-manager screen (30 min). Phone or video call covering your background, why you want to join C3.ai, and your experience with AI or data-driven products. Straightforward fit check; no deep technical probing at this stage.
2. Take-home written assignment (roughly 1 week to complete). Candidates receive either a scenario to spec out as a 5-page PRD, a prompt to write a use-case presentation on an industry of their choice for the C3 platform, or a market-scoping paper (sometimes paired with a brief to a CEO on AI trends plus a sales action plan). This gate is C3.ai's sharpest filter: your writing quality and domain thinking determine whether you move on.
3. PM panel interviews (2 to 4 x 30 min rounds). A series of back-to-back interviews with senior PMs covering behavioral, leadership, data analysis, and teamwork questions. Some candidates also present or defend their take-home assignment during this block.
4. Executive or senior leadership round (30 min). Conversation with a CPO, VP, or other senior leader on your product vision, strategic thinking, and alignment with C3.ai's enterprise AI mission. Often the final decision gate before an offer.
5. What they're really testing. Three signals stand out across all reported experiences: (1) depth of enterprise AI and C3 platform fluency, shown in the written assignment and live discussion; (2) ability to translate complex AI concepts into crisp product specs and stakeholder communication; (3) cross-functional judgment, specifically how you work across engineering, data science, and sales in a high-pressure, customer-facing environment.
